Image of a New Holland Tractor cutting grass
Further beyond the TT75 tractors that is working on hay is a bluegum forest and that is where a bluegum tree will fall..3 days later and on the actual day at 10:40 am 24 February is a very old ford tractor with a pulley.
A blue tractor with no headlights and the tractor driver is well the power saw driver. With the yellow overall is my father who wants to build a store and since he does not have a ready to cut tree on his farm.He asks his brother charles whether he should cut a tree from his farm and he agrees.
Image of Bluegum timber
Well I get closer now but am already pissed. As I am ready to see how it goes down one of the co-workers sees me with a bottle and suddenly sends me to fetch drinking water for him"ugh a bore" I tell myself seem like he doesn't want to see me around or why is he sending me for water he should have drunk water while he was at home though I oblige and go and luckily the furthest tap from the farm has water and I fetch then come back.
While coming back there is a very big problem. The first tree is down but a small one ,but the bigger tree is not despite being cut .It has been trapped on top by other tree branches and so it cannot fall ,therefore the guy who had sent me to fetch water is the one who volunteers to climb the tree then tie a rope on the top so that we can try and pull the tree so that it can fall.
"kerimo, ahaibagha mote na kerato, kerimo ahaibagha mote na ke" The tractor driver jokingly tell the co-worker who is now halfway on top of the tree with shoes on that ( a fool climbs a tree with shoes on,a fool climbs a tree with his shoes on...)
We are six in the forest ,my father the driver and 2 guys who are waiting for their colleague who is on top of the tree to finish up tying the rope to the tree.
After tying a rope on top of the tree he gets down, then we all move away from the tree and now with a very long rope we try and haul the tree but to our surprise the tree doesn't even flinch and we therefore decide to tie the rope onto the Old blue Ford then the driver tries and go away from the tree but alas ,the rope snaps and the bore guy climbs again to the top to tie the rope and sooner than later the Blue gum tree is down and being busy worked on.
I notice them measure the tree ,then after measuring the power saw driver cuts the tree in portions with the top most, used for mostly firewood since it is too thin to make any wood. The base of the tree is very huge and my father asks the power saw driver to cut the base into 3 pieces so as to serve the purpose of a seat." a very good seat indeed I use it while making pancakes while seated. The rest of the tree is going to be used to actually make the timber .
They re-arange the lumber accordingly and then the lumber is sliced into half. The process leads to creation of sawdust which from now on becomes many A perfect Bluegum .Wood will be used to make a wooden store .
Here is a bootle of oil plus 2 litre petrol oil gray bucket hut.A black cap belonging to the logger while the orange stuff is the power saw lid.Tbe blue carrier bag I guess has water or alcohol .

The actual work begins and they now start making timber from the tree. They send me to go and fetch a spade so that .They create a very stiff surface to avoid them from skidding..The tractor acts as the pulley with the axle connected to the mill.
Image of saw milling at naromoru
The workers mannouver the wood majestically as each and every moment the sawdust pile up.On one end there are two guys who receive the wood being pulled through the saw.The other end is the boer who inserts the tree on this end then comes out the other end.The sawdust on his feet is very crucial ,purpose is to minimize the contact with the slippery grass.
Further is the tractor driver who controls the speed of saw so as to grind the wood.
Image of bluegum sawdust
Further ahead is the cart which has been filled with firewood. The load on the cart are reject wood that will have their purpose end up as firewood
The seeds from the tree that fell and I notice they are thousands since the trees cut were two and that is how the cart looks with the rejected bluegum wood that will be bluegum firewood, the cart will be towed by the ford tractor up home.
Image of a pulley with bluegum timber
its 16:12 pm and seems that the work is not yet complete as milling is still taking place and I overhear they will come and finish up the next day on a sunday so I head over home .
While heading home I get very good views of Mount Kenya and the Maize as a very good back drop .The dams were built in Aguthi during the year 2021 and was a government initiative to assist in Agriculture whereby each home compound have a dam .The dam is just few meters from the bluegum forest and to be assertive bluegum has a lot of uses and it is an untapped resource.Apart from the lumber bluegum produces millions of seeds that go to waste, the bluegum tree also has very many leaves that drop each and every single day ,Bluegum has a tendency to self prune it self and therefore hundreds to thousands of tree stems and branches can be found inside an bluegum forest and to top it bluegum has a tendency to shade its skin and create a new layer and with such wood barks i decided to do a wood chip mulch
