 Silver Oak Tree scientifically known as Brachylaena huillensis and commonly known as Muhuhu, or African Sandalwood, is a hardwood tree native to parts of East and Southern Africa. Despite its value, this tree is facing threats from overexploitation and habitat loss, necessitating conservation efforts. Brachylaena huillensis is a slow-growing, evergreen or semi-deciduous tree that belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is one of the most economically significant hardwood species in Africa due to its durable timber and aromatic qualities. Traditionally, it has been used in furniture making, construction, and as firewood. Brachylaena huillensis typically grows to a height of 6–20 meters, depending on environmental conditions.

Brachylaena huillensis is native to East and Southern Africa, with populations found in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda. Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Angola. The tree thrives in: Coastal and lowland forests. Semi-arid woodlands. Montane forests up to an altitude of 1,800 meters. It grows in well-drained soils, often in association with other hardwood species. In Kenya, it is commonly found in regions such as the coastal forests and the Aberdare ranges .The tree has a straight, cylindrical trunk with a diameter of up to 80 cm. The bark is grayish-brown and rough.
